In collaboration with the C4P (Collaboration and Cyberinfrastructure for Paleogeosciences) Research Coordination Network, iSamples hosted an Early Career Forum at the fall meeting of the Geological Society of America in Baltimore, MD. Attended by about 20 graduate students, post-docs, and early career faculty, the forum allowed participants to share their views on managing and sharing physical samples. The Early Career Forum is part of the larger iSamples activity, "Transformation of Sample and Data Practices by Early Career Scientists." In addition to presentations listed below, early career scientists engaged in both small and large group discussions, including a workflow visualization exercise led by the iSamples Working Group on Use Cases. Furthermore, attendees heard from Brooks Hanson, Director of AGU Publishing, regarding existing and emerging best practices for sample citation in the literature.
